E.P. Carrillo is gearing up to release the next cigar in its Essence Cigars, the E.P. Carrillo Honduras. The third blend in this series after the previously released Sumatra and Maduro blends [read more here], the new E.P. Carrillo Honduras is the first cigar in this new series to be crafted outside of Casa Carrillo. The new brings together two powerhouses in the premium cigar world–E.P. Carrillo and Plasencia–in one special cigar.
The E.P. Carrillo Honduras features a Honduran Olancho San Augustín (OSA) wrapper, a Honduran binder, and filler tobacco from Honduras and Nicaragua. The wrapper is the centerpiece of this cigar. It was grown in a distinctive microclimate and fertile soil that gives this leaf a unique, complex flavor profile. The wrapper underwent two years of fermentation, giving it an oily sheen and dark color while creating a smooth and consistent smoking experience.
In a press release, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III commented: “Two years ago, our journey took us beyond the Casa Carrillo factory, leading to the creation of the acclaimed INCH Nicaragua in collaboration with Plasencia’s Nicaragua facility. Today, we’re thrilled to unveil the next chapter of our partnership, diving into the heart of Central America with the E.P. Carrillo Honduras. This blend embodies the rich heritage and unparalleled expertise of both our families.”
The E.P. Carrillo Honduras will be available in three sizes: Robusto, 5 x 50; Toro, 6 x 52; and Gordo, 6 x 60. The suggested retail price per cigar will range from $9.25 to $10.75 before applicable taxes. Available in 24-count boxes, this cigar is expected to ship to retailers in late September.
