Federal Minimum Wage Increase Hurts Small Businesses

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that 1.3 million jobs could be lost if the federal minimum wage is increased to $15, which is something that both the House (H.R 582) and Senate (S. 150) are considering. The Premium Cigar Association (PCA) remains committed to protecting employment and economic opportunities in the premium cigar industry and opposes mandated minimum wages at the federal level. Many of the job opportunities in premium cigar retail stores are part-time, seasonal, or a means of supplemental income, which could be eliminated if these legislative proposals are adopted.

If you are a retail store owner, contact Congress to voice your concerns about raising the federal minimum wage and the negative impacts that it could have on the premium cigar market. You can send a pre-written message, but customizing the message is preferred to really get lawmakers attention.
