PCA Provides Testimony against New Zealand’s Anti-Tobacco Law
Last week, PCA’s Government Affairs Manager Ryan Parada, appeared before the New Zealand Parliament and Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Health to provide evidence against the proposed Generational smoking ban. If passed, this legislation would make the use, purchase or possession of tobacco a criminal offense for anyone born after January 1, 2009. This law would effectively ban tobacco products in the country, and in doing so, close all of the tobacconists within. PCA aims to protect specialty retailers around the globe and when it comes to bad policy, it is important to stop it where it starts.
