Nebraska: Bill to Allow Smoking in Cigar Bars Passes Legislature

Over the past few months, your representatives at IPCPR have been collaborating with the Cigar Association of America and the Nebraska Premium Tobacco Association to restore the right of retail tobacconists in Nebraska to allow smoking in their businesses. Today, the Nebraska Legislature passed Legislative Bill 118, by a 45 to 3 vote. Introduced by Senator Tyson Larson, this legislation creates a limited exemption to the Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act to allow for smoking in cigar shops. This bill will now go to Governor Pete Ricketts for his signature. If this bill is signed by the Governor, it will go into effect immediately.

Thank you to all IPCPR members who contacted the Legislature regarding this important legislation. Your participation was critical to our success.
