Last week Governor Ralph Northam signed House Bill 2748. HB 2748 prohibits the purchase or possession of tobacco products, nicotine vapor products, and alternative nicotine products by a person under 21 years of age or sale of tobacco products, nicotine vapor products, and alternative nicotine products to persons under 21 years of age.
This legislation will go into effect on July 1, 2019.
The Cigar Association of Virginia secured an exemption for active duty military personnel who are 18 years of age or older. An identification card issued by the Armed Forces of the United States shall be accepted as proof of age for this purpose.
