J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has opened a new chapter in its storied portfolio with the return of Sarzedas, a heritage brand first rolled by the Newman family in 1900. Once known across the country as “The Aromatic Cigar,” Sarzedas now reenters the market after 125 years—reborn with a modern Nicaraguan profile while honoring its historic roots.

Shipping to retailers beginning today, the revitalized Sarzedas line is handcrafted at J.C. Newman’s PENSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. For Drew Newman, the company’s fourth-generation owner, the relaunch has been years in the making.

“I have loved the Sarzedas name and the brand’s history as ‘The Aromatic Cigar’ for years,” said Newman. “We’ve wanted to bring it back, but only when we could create a blend that lives up to the legacy. Sarzedas is the most flavorful cigar we have ever made.”

Blended by Rich Dolak—J.C. Newman’s longtime Vice President of Operations who has collaborated with the Newman family for nearly three decades—the new Sarzedas delivers a smooth yet vibrant profile built for broad appeal. The blend features a silky Ecuadorian Shade wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, creating an approachable, aromatic experience designed to resonate with both seasoned enthusiasts and casual smokers.

Sarzedas debuts in four classic sizes: Robusto, 4 3/4 x 52; Corona, 5 1/2 x 43; Toro, 6 x 50; and Churchill, 7 x 48.

Retail pricing ranges from $7.75 to $10, positioning Sarzedas as a flavorful, value-friendly option ideal for everyday smoking or as an accessible recommendation for customers exploring new profiles.

“Sarzedas is a fun, aromatic cigar that everyone can enjoy,” Newman added.

For retailers, the return of Sarzedas offers a fresh opportunity to merchandise a historic American brand that balances tradition, flavor, and accessibility—an appealing combination for a wide range of customers.
