Plasencia Cigars has announced the appointment of Rodrigo Medina Mendieta as the company’s first-ever Global Brand Ambassador, a newly created position designed to support the continued expansion of the brand’s international presence.

According to the company, Medina Mendieta has spent nearly 11 years with Plasencia Cigars and has played a significant role in growing the brand across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and other international markets. In his new role, he will serve as a global representative for the company, sharing the story of the Plasencia family’s tobacco legacy and its approach to cigar production.

A native of Nicaragua, Medina Mendieta said his work with Plasencia has allowed him to represent his country through one of its most recognized exports while helping elevate Nicaragua’s standing within the premium cigar industry.

“What first attracted me to Plasencia was the opportunity to connect my professional career with a product from my country that I deeply believe in,” Medina Mendieta said in a statement. “For years, I asked myself whether a luxury product could come from Nicaragua and stand alongside the world’s most respected brands. Through Plasencia, I have seen that answer become a reality.”

As Global Brand Ambassador, Medina Mendieta will work with retailers, distributors, media, and consumers worldwide to help increase awareness of the Plasencia brand and its vertically integrated approach to cigar production.
