The Premium Cigar Association (PCA), in collaboration with Keiser University Latin American Campus and with the support of the Cámara Nicaragüense de Tabacaleros (CNT), proudly announces the successful completion of the Executive Diploma: The Business of Premium Cigars: Strategy, Operations, Branding, and Experiences That Build Legacy.

Held over four Saturdays in July 2026 and concluding with a graduation ceremony and gala on July 25 in San Marcos, Nicaragua, the program brought together academia, industry leadership, and executive education to strengthen professional development in one of Nicaragua’s most globally respected industries.
Designed for executives, managers, emerging leaders, and professionals connected to premium industries, the program provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the modern premium cigar business, including strategy, operations, branding, finance, international trade, customer experience, hospitality, and long-term value creation. The majority of students came directly from Nicaragua’s premium cigar industry, reflecting a strong commitment by participating companies to invest in their people and prepare the next generation of industry leaders.

A defining feature of the program was its industry-led academic model. Lectures and panels were delivered by respected cigar makers, executives, founders, and leaders from the premium cigar world, giving students direct access to the experience, judgment, and practical knowledge of those who have helped build and elevate the global reputation of Nicaraguan premium cigars. Flor de Caña rum also provided valuable support as lecturers on two educational sessions and as sponsors of the graduation celebration, helping connect Nicaragua’s premium cigar culture with broader themes of hospitality, experience, and national excellence.
“The premium cigar industry stands at the intersection of craftsmanship, agricultural heritage, entrepreneurship, and global commerce,” said Joshua Habursky, Chief Executive Officer of the Premium Cigar Association. “This program reflects PCA’s commitment to providing meaningful value to our members and their teams around the world. By joining forces with Keiser University, the CNT, and leading industry partners in Nicaragua, we are helping advance education, professionalization, and leadership development for the future of the premium cigar community.”

“At Keiser University, we believe education should be connected to real industries, real opportunity, and real community development,” said Dr. Mathew Anderson, President of Keiser University Latin American Campus. “This program is a powerful example of what can happen when academia and industry work together with purpose. Nicaragua’s premium cigar sector is a source of national pride and international recognition, and we were honored to help create an executive education platform that supports its continued growth.”
PCA also extends its appreciation to the Cámara Nicaragüense de Tabacaleros, its leadership, and member companies for their support, as well as to the participating premium cigar companies that sponsored students, contributed speakers, and helped enrich the educational sessions. PCA also recognizes The Tobacco Hive for its support in the program’s development and delivery.
“This program proved that education is one of the most important tools for protecting and strengthening our industry,” said Ricardo Carioni, Director of International Affairs and Education at the PCA. “When academia, industry leaders, companies, and committed students come together, we create more than a program — we create a platform for legacy, leadership, and future growth.”
The successful completion of the program marks an important milestone in PCA’s expanding education strategy. As part of its mission to preserve and grow the premium cigar community through advocacy, education, innovation, and member engagement, PCA will continue exploring opportunities to provide high-value professional development for members, their teams, and the broader premium cigar industry globally.
