Caldwell Cigar Co. is expanding its regular-production portfolio with The Queen Is Dead, a five-vitola line developed by company founder Robert Caldwell and William Ventura.

The project is the first Caldwell core line developed from the ground up since Laudisi Enterprises acquired the company in 2024. It follows Caldwell’s established The King Is Dead line and extends the brand’s royal-themed naming convention.

The medium-bodied blend is produced at Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic. It combines a Habano 2000 wrapper with a Sumatran binder and Dominican Corojo, Habano and Criollo filler tobaccos.

The Queen Is Dead sizes and pricing

  • Requiem: 5 x 50 Robusto — $14.50 per cigar
  • Scarlet Thread: 5 3/4 x 44 Corona — $13.75 per cigar
  • Crimson Veil: 6 x 52 Toro — $15.50 per cigar
  • Bloodroot: 7 3/4 x 40 Lancero — $15 per cigar
  • Revenant: 6 x 60 Magnum — $16 per cigar

Each format is packaged in boxes of 24. Box prices range from $330 for Scarlet Thread to $384 for Revenant.

Caldwell describes the blend as opening with toast and white pepper before developing nutty sweetness, increasing pepper and cinnamon on the finish. Robert Caldwell said the cigar was designed around balance and should appeal to smokers familiar with Long Live the Queen and Anastasia.

Retailer preorders opened October 19. Shipments are expected near the end of October, although the company had not announced an exact shipping date.

The Queen Is Dead will be an ongoing core-line release rather than a limited production.
