Artesano del Tobacco has announced a $5 per box price increase for its Viva La Vida Classic and El Pulpo Culebra lines in the United States, citing increased costs associated with recently imposed tariffs.
The adjustment took effect immediately on Aug. 11 and applies only to the U.S. market. According to the company, it has spent recent months absorbing the additional tariff-related costs in an effort to limit the impact on retailers, distributors and consumers.
The company is limiting the increase to two portions of its portfolio. Pricing will remain unchanged for the standard El Pulpo line, excluding El Pulpo Culebra; Viva La Vida Connecticut; and Viva La Vida 5th Anniversary.
Artesano del Tobacco noted that this marks only the second price increase for Viva La Vida since the brand launched in 2019. The company said it has worked to maintain its pricing while managing higher costs and maintaining its standards for tobacco, construction and overall product quality.
The pricing change does not currently extend to international markets.
Founded by brothers Billy and Gus Fakih, Artesano del Tobacco traces its roots to their experience operating New York Cigar Inn in Manhattan. After selling the retail business in 2015, the brothers partnered with AJ Fernandez in Estelí, Nicaragua, to develop their own premium cigar portfolio.
