CLE Cigar Co. this week shipped the Asylum Time Capsule sampler sets to select retailers. The release commemorates Asylum’s 13th anniversary and marks the final year of the brand’s annual legacy series.
Rather than launching two vitolas in separate boxes, the Time Capsule comes in two sampler formats—one dedicated to the 11/18 vitola and the other to the 7 x70 format. Each sampler includes 13 cigars: two each of the first six Asylum anniversary blends, plus one of the newly formulated Asylum 13 Anniversary.
The Asylum 13 Anniversary blend uses the same Nicaraguan habano wrapper found on the standard Asylum 13 but features a different filler and binder configuration, including a Honduran binder and Colombian Pinar eño and Honduran filler tobaccos.
For the Time Capsule, the 11/18 sampler carries an MSRP of approximately $307.58 (about $23.66 per cigar), while the 7 x 70 sampler is priced at $372.58 (about $14.33 per cigar). The 11/18 version is limited to 500 boxes, and the 7×70 version is limited to 250 boxes.
These sampler sets began shipping this week to retailers in the United States.
