J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has debuted a special new release that ties together family legacy, local pride, and premium craftsmanship. The Diamond Crown Tampa was officially launched this week at a celebration hosted at the Diamond Crown Cigar Lounge inside Corona Cigar Co. in Tampa, Florida—coinciding with the city’s 138th birthday.
Developed in collaboration with Tabacalera A. Fuente and Jeff Borysiewicz of Corona Cigar Co., Diamond Crown Tampa marks a first for the Diamond Crown line: it features Florida Sun Grown (FSG) tobacco in the blend. Grown by the Borysiewicz family in Clermont, Florida, the FSG tobacco is used in the filler alongside Dominican tobaccos, with a Connecticut Shade wrapper and Dominican binder. The cigar is presented in a 6 1/2 x 52 Toro vitola and carries a suggested retail price of $30, before applicable taxes.
A Tribute to Cigar City
Tampa’s deep-rooted connection to the cigar industry is central to the theme and packaging of this release. The Diamond Crown Tampa cigar box is adorned with iconic Tampa landmarks, including Plant Hall, the Tampa Theatre, Bayshore Boulevard, the Jose Gasparilla pirate ship, and J.C. Newman’s historic El Reloj cigar factory. To mark the occasion, a birthday cake designed as an edible replica of the cigar box was served at the launch party, hosted by the Newman and Borysiewicz families.
“This release is our tribute to Tampa’s legacy as Cigar City,” said Drew Newman. “It’s a celebration of the city’s past, present, and future in premium cigar making.”
