PCA Magazine: Tell us about the club.
Sam Mushman, director of membership services: The Stork Club launched in 2023 as part of By Landmark’s vision to deliver exceptional hospitality experiences across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We’re a private membership club offering curated perks—like exclusive member events, access to luxury lounges, and special pricing—across our network of 20 venues. Our goal is to create a community where members connect over shared interests in fine spirits, cigars, dining and networking, all with VIP treatment at every touchpoint.
Talk about your collaboration with Kingmakers. How did that partnership come about and what does it entail?
Our partnership with Kingmakers began through a shared commitment to elevating the cigar and spirits experience for our members. Kingmakers’ expertise in premium cigars and their passion for community made them a natural fit. Together, we’ve curated exclusive cigar events, tastings and educational sessions, bringing members access to rare blends and industry insights that truly enhance the club’s value.
What’s the best piece of advice you received from someone about your store?
The best advice I’ve received is to “focus on the member experience above all else.” Every detail, big or small, should reinforce the sense of belonging and exclusivity that sets the Stork Club apart. When members feel genuinely valued, word of mouth and organic growth follow naturally.
Why join the PCA? What do you hope to get out of your PCA membership?
Joining the PCA is about aligning with the leaders in the premium cigar industry. We’re excited to connect with fellow enthusiasts, stay ahead of industry trends, and access resources that help us deliver even more unique experiences to our members. The PCA’s advocacy and community are invaluable as we continue to grow.
Talk a little about the PCA Alliance collaboration. How did that come about and what does it entail?
The PCA Alliance collaboration emerged from our shared vision to promote premium cigar culture and responsible enjoyment. Through our network with Kingmakers as well, we were put in touch with a shared vision. Through this partnership, we’ve been able to co-host events and support advocacy, with the long-term goal to provide members with exclusive access to Alliance offerings, further enriching the Stork Club experience.
You recently hosted the PCA. Can you share a few details about the event?
Hosting the PCA was a highlight for us. We brought together members, partners and PCA representatives for an evening of networking, fine cigars and premium spirits. The event featured guided tastings, live demonstrations and plenty of opportunities for meaningful connection.
