Washington HB 1416 has just been introduced and would increase the cigar tax cap from $0.65 to $0.75 per cigar. That is more than a 15 percent tax increase on premium cigars.
This proposal would directly raise costs for small businesses, reduce consumer demand, and put Washington cigar retailers at a competitive disadvantage.
