As two iconic names celebrate milestone anniversaries, Romeo y Julieta proudly announces the return of its exclusive Run for the Roses limited edition cigar—released in partnership with the Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs. Timed to honor the 151st running of the Derby and Romeo y Julieta’s 150th anniversary, this commemorative release bridges history, tradition, and luxury with an exclusive cigar designed for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

Crafted by the Grupo de Maestros at the Tabacalera de García factory in the Dominican Republic, this 6 x 50 Toro features an all-Nicaraguan blend aged more than five years in cedar to deliver a medium-to-full bodied profile rich in depth, structure, and elegance.

“This partnership represents the best of both worlds—heritage and refinement,” said Oliver Hyams, Vice President of Marketing at Altadis U.S.A. “For 2025, we’ve expanded distribution nationally, while maintaining the exclusivity that defines the Romeo y Julieta brand and the Kentucky Derby experience.”

The Romeo y Julieta 2025 Run of the Roses Limited Edition is available in 20-count boxes. The cigar is presented as a 6 x 50 Toro with each cigar having a suggested retail price of $20 before applicable taxes. The cigar will also be available in a commemorative coffin box with a suggested retail price of $25. Only 1,350 collector’s boxes have been produced for nationwide distribution, including select Liquor Barn locations in Kentucky. The coffins will be available exclusively at Churchill Downs kiosks during Derby Week.

“We’re excited to welcome cigar lovers to our race day booth at Churchill Downs and to host an immersive brand experience at the Louisville Thoroughbred Society,” added Olivia Saad, Brand Manager for Romeo y Julieta. “This release isn’t just a cigar—it’s part of the celebration.”

This product began shipping to retailers in April and will be available at retailers now in time for the Kentucky Derby on May 3, 2025.
