Didier Jill Collection Toro

Smoke time: 1 hours, 30 minutes

Appearance & Aroma
The Didier Jill cigar presents an elegant and commanding appearance, exuding craftsmanship and sophistication from the first glance. Its wrapper is a rich, oily chestnut brown—smooth yet with a fine network of veins that hint at the careful curing process behind it. The cigar’s body feels firm and evenly packed, suggesting a deliberate construction meant to ensure an even, consistent burn. A subtle sheen from its natural oils glistens under the light, evoking the promise of depth and refinement in the smoking experience. The band is tastefully designed—minimalist yet luxurious—with metallic accents that complement the cigar’s warm, earthy hue.

When brought to the nose, the Didier Jill releases an aroma that is both inviting and complex. The pre-light scent combines notes of aged cedar, cocoa and roasted coffee beans, underscored by a whisper of leather and sweet spice. There’s a delicate interplay of earthiness and creaminess that suggests impeccable tobacco fermentation and aging. As the cigar rests, faint traces of dried fruit and vanilla linger in the air, creating an aroma that is rich without being overpowering. It’s the kind of fragrance that commands attention quietly, like a tailored suit or a glass of finely aged cognac, promising a smoke of balance, elegance and enduring character.

I’m pairing the Jill with Zafra 21-year Panamanian Rum which is very smooth and enjoying the cigar at A-1 Cigar Bar & Lounge, which offers a great environment and vibe that places you in the mindset for the Jill experience.

Light-Up & Draw
The Jill lights with ease owing to the 6×60-size ring gauge, which if constructed well tends to allow more smoke per puff. The draw delivers a strong hit of the full flavor of the maduro habano wrapper, thus enabling the blend to come through without becoming overly airy or too tight.

Early Profile
After lighting this work of art, you’re greeted with notes of spice, cocoa and espresso. The smooth draw allows you to take in these notes without having to struggle at each puff.

Middle Profile & Burn
As you continue to enjoy the cigar, the profile matures in the middle third by developing richer, bolder notes of dark chocolate, undertones of earth and cedar and a touch of spice. The strength of the profile and smooth draw remain consistent with a steady, precise burn.

Late Profile
The Jill maintains its character throughout the smoke, providing deeper notes of chocolate and a hint of spice near the end.

Overall Impression
The Jill is a great journey for the experienced smoker. The sweetness from the maduro habano wrapper gently fades, leaving more of the tobacco’s natural strength and the complexity of a full-bodied cigar. You can experience the Jill during the day or after a steak dinner … either way it won’t disappoint.
