At this year’s Premium Cigar Association trade show (PCA) in New Orleans, Arango Cigar Co. will introduce the Eladio Diaz 72nd Anniversary North & South Edition. Blended by master blender Eladio Diaz, this continues an annual tradition of Diaz to craft a special blend for his birthday. Previously only given to his friends, Diaz has now made this annual cigar available to cigar enthusiasts worldwide.

For the Eladio Diaz 72nd Anniversary North & South Edition, tobacco for the blend was sourced from the northern and southern regions of the Dominican Republic. Diaz notes that this is especially noteworthy since it was the 1970s when tobacco was last cultivated in these regions.

In a press release, Arango Cigar Co. issued the following statement about this new release: “From the moment you light the ED72, the magnificent 100% Dominican wrapper—known as Capa de Sol—unveils a symphony of flavors. You’ll discover complex notes of spice, cream, coffee, cacao, and almonds dancing across your palate, engaging your taste buds without inducing excessive salivation. Each puff releases an aroma that beautifully caresses the senses, while the balance of flavors is nothing short of spectacular, with no single note overpowering the others. On a strength scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this exceptional cigar a solid 7. In my humble opinion, it offers a symphony of flavors that transcends the ordinary, making it a must-try for any serious cigar connoisseur.”

Eladio Diaz 72nd Anniversary North & South Edition has a 4-year-old Corojo original wrapper from the southern Dominican Republic, a Dominican Negro San Andrés binder, and Negrito Dominican Republic, Corojo 99, Criollo 98 (south), HVA (south) and Piloto Cubano filler tobacco. This cigar is limited to just 2,500 boxes, each containing 12 cigars. The cigar will be presented in just one size–a 6 1/2 x 52 vitola.

The Eladio Diaz 72nd Anniversary North & South Edition is expected to ship in July 2025 and will be available for order at Arango Cigar Co.’s booth during PCA25 in New Orleans, April 11-14, 2025.
