Cigar: Matilde Limited Exposure No. 2
Size: Robusto
Smoke time: 1 hour, 12 minutes

Appearance & Aroma
Sitting in my lounge, I’m drawn to Matilde’s cigar band—a rich purple with embossed gold that stands out against the Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper. The veins on the cigar are quite noticeable, yet it still feels impressively smooth in my hand. Bringing the wrapper closer, I catch aromas of raisins, earth and baking spice, along with a touch of cedar that becomes more pronounced near the foot. Here, the cedar starts to mingle with notes of what now has become more barnyard, coffee and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of cinnamon raisin.

Light-Up & Draw
I opt for a standard straight cut, which delivers an easy, comfortable draw. Right away, the cold draw reveals flavors of coffee, cocoa and that familiar cinnamon raisin note. Once the cigar is lit, the first draw is very pleasant. I pick up a blend of cinnamon, raisin, cocoa, a touch of nuttiness, and a bold cedar note that comes through clearly on the retrohale. About a quarter of an inch in, the burn line is sharp and even, producing an ample amount of smoke.

Early Profile
The cinnamon note has mellowed, letting the nuttiness and raisin flavors take center stage, while the coffee notes are starting to build nicely. A subtle creaminess has emerged, softening the profile and creating a satisfying balance between the sweet and savory elements that have developed. The retrohale now brings a touch of black pepper, adding a complementary layer to the overall experience. At this point, the burn has drifted slightly, but not enough to require any correction. Smoke production remains abundant and aromatic, and body and strength falls just a tick under medium.

Middle Profile & Burn
I have to say, I’m really enjoying the consistency of this cigar’s profile. Even halfway through, the core flavors have remained steady. The most noticeable change is a slight increase in both cinnamon and creaminess, which, when combined with the raisin note, now reminds me of cinnamon raisin bread. The pepper on the retrohale has eased up, allowing the cedar to take the spotlight once again. At this point body and strength are at a solid medium. And the burn has self-corrected.

Late Profile
The final third of this cigar begins to mellow, but not in a bad way. Some of the more pronounced notes—like the cedar, pepper and raisin—are softening, leaving coffee, cinnamon and a toasted bread note. Body and strength are steady at a medium, and the cigar burn has performed flawlessly since self correcting.

Overall Impression
This is an exceptional cigar by Enrique Seijas. It’s a cigar that stands out as a true example of balance, offering consistent body, strength, flavor and construction. In my opinion, it’s a cigar that can be appreciated by enthusiasts at any level of experience. This achievement is a testament to Enrique’s dedication to his craft and the legacy he continues to uphold.
