Casa Carrillo has announced the release of Pledge Purple, a Premier Collection cigar created to mark the five-year anniversary of Pledge Prequel, which earned a 98 rating and was named Cigar Aficionado’s 2020 Cigar of the Year.
Following that recognition in 2021, Casa Carrillo set aside a portion of the same Havana-seed Connecticut wrapper used in the original Prequel blend. Rather than reusing it immediately, the company allowed the tobacco to continue aging for nearly a decade in total.
The wrapper was grown in the Connecticut River Valley and sourced from Dunn & Foster. While it shares its origin with the Prequel, Pledge Purple is built as an entirely new blend.
Pledge Purple is offered in a 6 x 54 Toro. It combines the extended-aged Havana-seed Connecticut wrapper with a Mexican binder and Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí, Condega, and Ometepe.
The cigar is described as full strength, designed to highlight the evolved character of the wrapper while delivering balance and complexity. Casa Carrillo positions the release as a distinct expression within the Pledge line rather than a direct continuation of the Prequel.
Pledge Purple will be released as part of Casa Carrillo’s Premier Collection, with production limited to 3,500 boxes for the year. The company plans to distribute the cigars in multiple installments throughout 2026.
Each cigar will be packaged in boxes of 10 with a suggested retail price of $18 per cigar. Shipments to select retailers are expected to begin in early March.
Framed as the “pinnacle” of the Pledge series, Pledge Purple reflects Casa Carrillo’s decision to revisit a celebrated wrapper crop — this time with extended aging and a reimagined blend.
