H. Upmann is expanding its collaboration with AJ Fernandez with the introduction of H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez Sunrise, a new blend scheduled to debut at the 2026 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show in New Orleans.

The release represents the third expression in the H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez series, following the original line introduced in 2017 and the Heritage release that followed in 2021. The new Sunrise blend was created to round out the portfolio with a smoother, balanced profile that complements the existing expressions in the series.

The blend is built around an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper paired with a Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos grown on AJ Fernandez’s farms. While the wrapper suggests a milder profile, the cigar was designed as a medium-bodied smoke, offering balance and flavor rather than a traditional mild Connecticut experience.

According to Altadis U.S.A., the goal of the Sunrise was to introduce a cigar that maintains the Nicaraguan character of the series while delivering a smoother smoking experience that can appeal to a wide range of cigar enthusiasts. The project continues the blending collaboration between AJ Fernandez and Rafael Nodal, Vice President of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA.

The cigars will be presented in 20-count boxes with packaging that reflects the Sunrise theme, incorporating bright orange and gold tones inspired by the colors of a morning sky.

The new line will be available in four vitolas. These include a Robusto measuring 5 x 52 with an MSRP of $12.99, a Toro measuring 6 x 54 with an MSRP of $13.75, a Churchill measuring 7 x 50 priced at $14.25, and a Magnum measuring 6 x 60 with an MSRP of $14.50.

The H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez Sunrise is expected to debut at PCA 2026 in April and begin shipping to retailers shortly after the trade show.
