Gran Habano Cigars is expanding its portfolio with the introduction of Core and Premium Petacas, a new packaging format designed to offer retailers and consumers a more portable and accessible way to experience the brand’s cigars.
The new Petacas will make their official debut at the 2026 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show in New Orleans (PCA26), where Gran Habano plans to showcase the format as part of its broader product lineup.
A Traditional Format with a Modern Purpose
In cigar tradition, a petaca refers to a compact, pocket-sized package intended for convenience and protection. Gran Habano’s interpretation builds on that concept, adapting it to today’s consumer habits by offering a format suited for travel, everyday carry, and casual smoking occasions.
Each Petaca is constructed using cardboard packaging and contains 10 cigars in a 6 x 54 Toro/Gran Robusto format, providing a balance between value and presentation.
Expanding Access Across Core and Premium Lines
The new packaging will be available across both the brand’s Core and Premium lines, allowing retailers to offer a range of price points and blends within the same convenient format.
For retailers, the Petaca format introduces additional merchandising flexibility. The smaller, portable packaging may appeal to customers looking for:
- A more approachable entry point into the brand
- A convenient option for travel or events
- A sampler-style purchase without committing to a full box
At the same time, the format maintains the consistency and quality associated with Gran Habano’s established blends.
PCA 2026 Debut and Ongoing Availability
Gran Habano plans to formally introduce the Petacas at PCA26, where retailers will have the opportunity to view the packaging and explore how the format fits within their humidor assortment.
Unlike many limited or seasonal releases, the Core and Premium Petacas are expected to be part of ongoing production, ensuring consistent availability beyond the initial launch period.
As consumer preferences continue to evolve toward convenience and flexibility, formats like the Petaca offer retailers another way to meet demand while maintaining the premium cigar experience.
