One of the premium tobacco industry’s longest-running retail and consumer gatherings is set for a major shift in 2026, as Smoker Friendly relocates both of its flagship events out of Colorado for the first time.

The Smoker Friendly Conference and Tobacco Festival (SFCTF) and the Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival (RMCF) will move to Cheyenne, Wyoming, marking a notable change for events that have historically been tied to Colorado.

A Strategic Move for Longevity
The relocation comes as both events hit milestone anniversaries—30 years for SFCTF and 17 years for RMCF—and reflects a broader strategic decision aimed at ensuring their long-term sustainability.

Event organizers cited Wyoming’s business-friendly and tobacco-friendly environment as a key factor in the move, signaling the growing importance of regulatory climate when planning large-scale industry events.

For retailers, this shift highlights a reality that continues to shape the premium cigar industry: where you do business—and where you gather—matters more than ever.

Two Distinct Events, One Industry Hub
The two events will take place back-to-back at the Little America Hotel & Resort in Cheyenne, creating a multi-day destination for both retailers and consumers.

The Smoker Friendly Conference and Tobacco Festival remains focused on the retail side of the business, bringing together members of Smoker Friendly’s authorized dealer network—representing approximately 700 stores nationwide—for seminars, networking, and a trade show environment.

Immediately following, the Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival shifts the focus to the consumer experience, drawing roughly 2,500 cigar enthusiasts and featuring cigars, food, spirits, and entertainment from more than 100 vendors.

Together, the events create a rare overlap of retail strategy and consumer engagement, offering insight into both sides of the premium cigar business.

Looking Ahead
With a new venue, expanded space, and a different regulatory backdrop, the 2026 editions of SFCTF and RMCF are positioned to evolve while maintaining their core purpose: connecting retailers, manufacturers, and consumers in a shared environment centered on premium tobacco.

As the industry continues to adapt, moves like this underscore a key takeaway for retailers—success is not just about what you sell, but where and how you operate within an ever-changing landscape.
