Plasencia Cigars has announced El Año de la Cabra, its limited-edition release for the 2027 Chinese Year of the Goat. The seventh annual cigar in the company’s Chinese Zodiac collection will be limited to 6,000 individually numbered boxes worldwide.
The 6¼-inch by 60-ring-gauge Perfecto Figurado is handcrafted in Danlí, Honduras. Suggested retail pricing is $60 per cigar or $600 for a 10-count box. The announcement does not specify a shipping date.
The blend combines a Honduran wrapper grown in Azacualpa, Olancho, with a binder from Honduras’ Jamastrán Valley. Filler tobaccos come from the Jamastrán Valley and Estelí, Nicaragua, including organically grown Nicaraguan tobacco.
Plasencia describes a flavor progression that includes toasted oak and espresso, followed by dark chocolate, raisins and earthy notes, with walnut, cinnamon, clove and toasted sweetness developing later in the smoke.
The company connects the release to the goat’s symbolism of harmony, resilience and quiet strength. Fifth-generation family member Néstor Andrés Plasencia said those themes reflect the family’s approach to growing tobacco and crafting cigars.
Packaging also draws on Lunar New Year traditions. The red lacquered wooden boxes feature gold accents and patterns inspired by goat horns. Each box includes individual cigar gift boxes inspired by the traditional Chinese hóngbāo, or red envelope.
For specialty tobacco retailers, the numbered production and individual gift packaging position the release as a limited offering for customers interested in the Zodiac collection and Lunar New Year gifting.
