MBombay Cigars has shipped two limited-edition releases that introduce the pyramid format to its portfolio: Kesara Pyramid 2020 and MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019. Both measure 6 inches by 54 ring gauge and are available at tobacconists carrying MBombay.

The release totals 16,600 cigars, divided between 834 numbered boxes of 10 Kesara Pyramids and 826 numbered boxes of 10 MQBA Mayura Pyramids. The company says these are its first sizes beyond toro and robusto and does not expect to produce them again.

Production was limited by a finite lot of tobacco and the availability of a single roller at the company’s Costa Rica factory who could make the shape to its standard. The cigars were rolled in 2020 and 2019, respectively, and held for aging before release.

“We had one roller who could make this shape and one lot of tobacco to make it from,” said MBombay founder Mel S. “When the lot was gone, so was the run. Then we waited until the cigars were ready, not until the calendar said it was time.”

Kesara Pyramid 2020

Kesara Pyramid 2020 combines an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper with an Ecuador H.2000 binder and filler from the Dominican Republic and Peru Mejorado. MSRP is $29.95 per cigar.

The cigar carries a white band with a floral pattern and comes in an orange box with a sleeve numbered out of 834. MBombay describes Kesara as its lightest-shade blend and places it in the same medium nicotine band as the rest of its portfolio.

MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019

MQBA Mayura Pyramid 2019 uses an Ecuador Habano HVA wrapper in a colorado claro shade, an Ecuador binder and filler from Paraguay, Peru and Nicaragua. MSRP is $39.95 per cigar.

Mayura is the Sanskrit word for peacock, reflected in the gold peacock on the cigar’s white oval band. Boxes are numbered out of 826.

MBombay does not sell directly to consumers. Its retailer locator is available at bombaytobak.com. Retailers seeking information can contact Mel S. at puronundi@gmail.com or 951-551-1193.
