At the 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA25) trade show, Black Star Line Cigars will introduce a new core cigar line–Meadowood MLK. This new cigar honors Martin Luther King, Jr. and a tobacco farm he worked on before he attended college.

In a press release, Black Star Line Cigars owner Aric Bey commented: “This is a very significant and not well-known piece of history. Martin Luther King Jr worked on a tobacco farm before he went to college. He helped to grow Connecticut broadleaf. King also got the inspiration to become a pastor at the farms because he used to do small sermons for the other employees. King also stated that he noticed how much differently he was treated because the racism in the North was not as bad as it was in the South. I really wanted to use this name because it represents how it doesn’t matter what color you are, gender, or how much money you have, cigars bring everyone together. That is also a concept King believed in.”

Handcrafted at Tabacalera La Isla, Meadowood MLK’s box will be presented in “old gold” and black, the official colors of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. The band and the box have an image of tobacco fields and a tobacco farm. The blend of the medium-bodied Meadowood MLK features a Dominican Corojo 99 wrapper, Dominican binder, and Peruvian, Brazilian, American, Nicaraguan, and Dominican filler tobaccos. This cigar is presented as a 5 x 50 cigar. The suggested retail price per cigar is $11.99 before applicable taxes. Only 250 boxes of 20 cigars each will be released.

Black Star Line Cigars will exhibit at PCA25, which will be held in New Orleans from April 11 to 14, 2025.
