E.P. Carrillo has released details for the newest expression in its Essence Series: the Essence Series Connecticut. This latest release brings a smooth and sophisticated dimension to the portfolio, offering a refined mild-to-medium-bodied profile that is both approachable and nuanced—crafted for discerning palates and newcomers alike.
Set to debut at 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA25) in New Orleans this April, the Essence Series Connecticut is the fourth blend in the series, following the Sumatra, Maduro, and Honduras. Like its predecessor, Essence Series Honduras, this new expression was developed at the Agroindustrias DIADEMA factory in Honduras. It is a testament to E.P. Carrillo’s commitment to collaborative craftsmanship beyond its home base of Casa Carrillo.
“The Connecticut was born from a desire to create a blend that delivers elegance through restraint,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, founder and master blender. “It’s a cigar that combines smooth creaminess with the kind of detail and balance that seasoned smokers appreciate—but one that’s also welcoming to those exploring the world of premium cigars.”
The Essence Series Connecticut has a golden, silky, smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that offers delicate espresso and nutmeg overtones. The binder is a Honduran Criollo ’98 that gives the cigar an earthy structure and a hint of warm spice. For the filler, E.P. Carrillo chose tobaccos from Honduras and the Dominican Republic, lending balance, creaminess, and complexity with cedar, hay, and toasted almond notes. The Essence Series Connecticut offers a velvety draw and a crisp, medium-length finish—ideal for morning enjoyment or as an elegant pairing with a coffee or aperitif.
The Essence Connecticut will be available in three vitolas designed to suit various preferences and occasions: Corona, 5 1/2 x 44; Robusto, 5 x 50; and Toro, 6 x 52. The suggested retail price per cigar ranges from $8.75 to $10 before applicable taxes.
Retailers can preview the blend at PCA25 and begin placing pre-orders immediately. Shipping is scheduled to begin in May.
