La Aurora is set to bring back one of its most distinctive annual releases with the return of the Preferido Double Barrel-Aged Tubos, scheduled to debut at the 2026 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show (PCA26) in New Orleans.
Positioned at the intersection of craftsmanship and experimentation, the release highlights one of the brand’s most unique production methods—double barrel-aging, a process that continues to set it apart within the premium cigar category.

At the core of the Preferido Double Barrel-Aged Tubos is a multi-stage aging process that begins long before the cigar is rolled.
Select tobaccos—sourced from the upper primings of the plant—are first aged in wooden barrels, allowing the leaf to develop depth and character. Once rolled into the brand’s signature perfecto format, the cigars undergo a second aging phase inside barrels previously used for aged rum.
Rather than infusing flavor, this method allows the cigars to absorb subtle environmental influences from the barrels, resulting in nuanced notes shaped by oak, spice, and natural sweetness. The result is a profile that emphasizes balance and complexity without overpowering the underlying tobacco.
