Macanudo is introducing its first new cigar line since 2018 with the release of the new Macanudo Emissary. This new premium cigar, created to deliver a sophisticated smoking experience, debuted in March during the 2024 Premium Cigar Association (PCA24) trade show.

“The inspiration for Emissary came from our search for a refined smoking experience influenced by European sophistication. Using Spanish tobacco to create Macanudo Emissary Espana, we are confident that we’ve delivered on this goal,” says Steve Abbot, director of marketing for Macanudo cigars.

The cigar is set apart by its rare Havana seed tobacco from a rural region in West-Central Spain and the aged tobaccos used in the blend whose complexity has deepened over time. The new Macanaduo Emissary España is a five-country blend that includes five-year-aged Dominican Piloto, six-year-aged Nicaraguan, and five-year-aged Colombian tobacco. The binder is a six-year-old Nicaraguan leaf grown in Nicaragua’s Condega region. The cigar is crowned with a Connecticut-grown Broadleaf Claro wrapper that has been aged for five years. According to Macanudo, the Emissary España is “intriguingly complex with a captivating aroma, the medium-bodied cigar offers prevalent notes of toasted cedar, almonds and caramel.”

The tobacco that inspired the Macanudo Emissary España’s name is grown near Riolobos, Spain. This town has rocky soil and a Mediterranean climate that helps develop a rich tobacco. The tobacco used in Macanudo Emissary España’s blend is grown near olive trees and pepper fields typically used for paprika. The tobacco is characterized by thick, oily leaves that are the result of the warm, dry summer days and wild nights.

Macanudo Emissary España will be available in four sizes: Robusto, 5 x 52; Toro, 6 x 52; Churchill, 7 x 48; and Perfecto, 6 x 40 x 54. The suggested retail price per cigar will range from $14.99 to $17.99 before applicable taxes.
