At this year’s 2025 Premium Cigar Association (PCA25) trade show in New Orleans, Plasencia Cigars unveiled a new cigar within its Alma series: the Alma del Cielo, the world’s first high-elevation cigar. Translated as “Soul from the Sky,” Plasencia’s Alma del Cielo is an ultra-premium release that features tobacco grown entirely at high elevation, more than 3,500 feet above sea level at Finca San Julián in the mountainous region of Condega, Nicaragua.

Alma del Cielo’s story begins decades ago with Melalina Torres, wife of Don Nestor Plasencia. She spent her childhood exploring the now-iconic farmland nestled among coffee trees and golden grain fields. The land, once sold and thought to be lost, was serendipitously reacquired by Don Nestor and gifted to Melalina as a wedding anniversary surprise, reuniting a family’s past with its future.

Today, Finca San Julián thrives with organically cultivated, high-elevation tobacco—exposed to abundant sunlight, cooled by mountain breezes, and nourished by an untouched natural stream. The result is a tobacco unlike any other in the world, offering complexity shaped by both altitude and intention.

“This cigar is not just a blend—it’s a memory brought to life,” said Nestor Andrés Plasencia. “Alma del Cielo reflects our family’s journey, the spirit of our farming practices, and the generosity of nature when nurtured with care.”

Alma del Cielo is presented in 10-count boxes and is available in three sizes: Celeste (Robusto, 4 7/8 x 52), Boreal (Toro, 6 1/8 x 54), and Amanecer (Hexágono, 6 x 60). The suggested retail price ranges from $25 to $29.50 per cigar before applicable taxes.

Plasencia debuted this new cigar to retailers attending the PCA25.
