Selected Tobacco is commemorating the 175th anniversary of its Byron brand with the release of the Byron 175 Tribute Set, a limited-edition collection featuring four cigars representing different eras in the brand’s history. The set is scheduled to begin shipping in August with a suggested retail price of $205.
Distributed in the United States by United Cigars, the Byron 175 Tribute Set includes four cigars packaged in cosmetic-grade aluminum tubes. Each cigar represents a different Byron line and has undergone a minimum of four years of post-roll aging using Selected Tobacco’s proprietary maturation process, which combines controlled humidity cycles and multiple cedar varietals.
The collection includes:
- Byron 19th Century Grand Poemas (6 x 56)
- Byron 20th Century Habaneros (6 x 54)
- Byron 21st Century Elegantes (6 1/8 x 55)
- Byron 1850 No. 3 (6 x 52)
All four cigars are handcrafted in Costa Rica using Ecuadorian wrappers over Dominican, Peruvian and Nicaraguan tobaccos. According to the company, each blend is intended to showcase a distinct profile while maintaining the signature character of the Byron brand.
Selected Tobacco traces the Byron name to the early 1850s, when the brand appeared in California newspapers. Today, the Alfonso family continues to produce the brand while emphasizing extended aging techniques that have become a hallmark of the company’s luxury cigar portfolio.
“Byron has always represented respect for history,” Nelson Alfonso said in a statement. “Every cigar teaches us that time is the greatest ingredient, and this collection is our humble tribute to those who appreciated Byron before us and to those who will enjoy it for generations to come.”
The Byron 175 Tribute Set will be available exclusively through appointed Byron retailers. Selected Tobacco said production is limited, with no additional runs planned once the initial allocation is sold.
