The Procigar has announced the appointment of Ciro Cascella as president for the 2026–2028 term, while also outlining continued efforts focused on education and social development in the Dominican Republic.
Leadership Appointment
Procigar confirmed that Tabacalera Fuente will serve as the presiding company for the organization during the 2026–2028 term, represented by its CEO, Ciro Cascella. The appointment was formalized during the association’s Annual General Assembly held on April 30, 2026, in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
The assembly included participation from member companies representing the country’s premium cigar manufacturing sector. During the same meeting, the organization also named its board of directors for the new term. Litto Gómez of La Flor Dominicana was appointed vice president, Guillermo León of La Aurora as second vice president, Hamlet Espinal of Davidoff Cigars as secretary, and Yuri Guillén of General Cigar as treasurer. Additional board members include representatives from multiple Dominican cigar manufacturers.
Procigar stated that Cascella’s appointment follows the tenure of outgoing president Litto Gómez, who previously held the position.
Social Responsibility and Education Initiatives
In a separate announcement, Procigar outlined ongoing initiatives tied to its social responsibility efforts, with a focus on education and workforce development.
A central component of these efforts is the Más Allá del Umbral (MAU) scholarship program, which supports Dominican students through access to higher education, academic support, training, internships, and job placement opportunities.
Procigar also confirmed an expanded partnership with the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA), aimed at increasing access to education and strengthening connections between academic institutions and the cigar industry.
According to the organization, its broader social initiatives also include support for healthcare, cultural programs, and housing efforts in the Dominican Republic.
Procigar stated that these programs are part of its ongoing approach to supporting long-term development and strengthening communities within the country.
