Plasencia 1865 has released the Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada. When crafting this cigar, the Plasencia family drew inspiration from old indigenous mythology surrounding the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua.
“This cigar is a remarkable work of art. Since 1865, we have nurtured and cultivated tobacco, and at last, we have successfully grown a wrapper of unparalleled beauty in Ometepe, Nicaragua. The island of Ometepe is of great significance to our family as it has been to the Indigenous peoples of this region. We celebrate this achievement with the Plasencia Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada,” commented Néstor Andres Plasencia, fifth generation of the Plasencia family and board member of Plasencia 1865.
The island of Ometepe was created when two towering volcanoes rose from the depths of Lake Nicaragua. The name comes from two ancient Nahuatl words–”OME,” which means “two,” and “TEPETL,” which translates to “mountain.” The early indigenous natives considered Ometepe their “promised land” and a sacred site home to the Gods. The Plasencia Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada is dedicated to Ometepe and its historical significance.
Plasencia Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada’s wrapper is made with tobacco (named Hoja del Fuego) from Ometepe. Only 1,000 boxes of this cigar will be released. Each cigar is presented in a hand-blown glass tube. This cigar will be presented in just one size, a 6 x 54 Torpedo. Each box, which doubles as a humidor, holds 20 cigars, each with a suggested retail price of $100 before applicable taxes.
