As La Flor Dominicana prepares to mark thirty years of innovation in premium cigar making, the company is breathing new life into the blend that started it all. Initially introduced in 1994 as the Premium Line, this smooth Dominican creation laid the foundation for what would become one of the industry’s most respected boutique brands. Today, that cigar—now known as Suave—returns to the spotlight, reimagined with three decades of craftsmanship behind it.

Set to debut at the 2025 Premium Cigar Association trade show in New Orleans, the new Suave honors the essence of the original while embracing a more mature, contemporary profile. It’s a thoughtful evolution shaped by the deep tobacco knowledge La Flor Dominicana has cultivated since its founding.

“We asked ourselves: if we could go back to the beginning with the experience we have today, what would Suave look like?” said Litto Gomez, founder of LFD. “This blend is our answer to that question.”

The new Suave remains a mild-to-medium-bodied experience but now offers richer flavor and more nuanced complexity across two distinct wrapper expressions—Natural and Grand Maduro. Both versions feature updated blends while retaining their classic vitola names, presented in 20-count boxes with a suggested retail price ranging from $8.40 to $12.80.

The Suave Natural has an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper, a San Andrés binder, and filler from the Dominican Republic. It will be available in three sizes: Gobernador, 6 1/2 x 60; Maceo, 5 x 48; and Máximo, 6 x 54.

The Suave Grand Maduro will be available in a San Andrés wrapper, a Jalapa binder, and filler from the Dominican Republic. It will be available in two sizes: Grand Maduro No. 5, 6 1/4 x 52, and Grand Maduro No. 6, 5 3/4 x 54 (Torpedo).

In addition to the updated blends, Suave also arrives in vibrant new packaging. Tony Gomez, creative director at LFD, described the redesign as a visual expression of the brand’s personality.

“It’s bold, joyful, and classic,” he said. “It reminds me of riding a Paso Fino through the farm—smooth, elegant, and filled with that unmistakable LFD spirit.”

The refreshed Suave will begin shipping in July and will remain part of LFD’s core line. It will give retailers a compelling new addition to their mild-to-medium offerings, backed by one of the most trusted names in Dominican cigar craftsmanship.
