General Cigar Co. has announced two new additions to the Macanudo core lineup: Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade and Macanudo Sumatra.

These new Macanudo releases are intended to expand the brand’s core portfolio while maintaining the brand’s focus on approachable profiles and consistency. Both products will be on display at General Cigar’s booth during the 2026 Premium Cigar Association (PCA26) trade show in New Orleans.

These new Macanudo blends are handcrafted in Estelí, Nicaragua, and share the same internal blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos bound with a U.S. Broadleaf binder. The primary difference between the two releases is the wrapper leaf: Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade uses an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper, while Macanudo Sumatra uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The company stated that the two wrappers were selected to create distinct smoking experiences built from the same core blend.

Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade and Macanudo Sumatra will each be offered in three vitolas: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 50), and Gigante (6 x 60).

General Cigar stated that shipments to retailers are expected to begin in late April 2026.
