Tax Increase Defeated in Maine

The Premium Cigar Association (PCA) today commended the action by the Maine House of Representatives to defeat the proposed tobacco tax increase, that would have increased the tax on premium cigars to 86% of the wholesale price.

PCA also recognized the efforts of Maine PCA member Ken Nagle and his employees throughout the state, who provided testimony and grassroots outreach to help defeat this proposed tax increase. PCA launched an opposition petition at CigarAction.org to voice opposition to each member of the Maine legislature.

PCA commended the coalition of allied advocacy groups, small business owners and consumers throughout the state that worked to make this victory possible.
