[Washington, DC, Feb. 11, 2021] The Premium Cigar Association (PCA) announced today that Pete Johnson, President and Founder of Tatuaje Cigars, has donated $10,000 to the PCA’s state advoacacy program to help the brick and mortar retailers defend against the onslaught of proposed tax hikes and smoking and flavor bans.
“I want to personally thank Pete Johnson and the entire Tatuaje company for this generous donation,” said PCA Executive Director Scott Pearce. “We have a small, but dedicated and incredibly effective staff, so every bit of help goes a very long way in our fight against those who would like to see our retailers closed or taxed into oblivion. And Pete and Tatuaje’s support will be a huge boon for the organization’s advocacy efforts in defense of our retail members.”
Johnson, who has long been an ardent supporter and advocate for retailers, said he is happy his company can help at this critical time. “I know that there are several states where PCA’s advocacy work has directly led to premium cigar exemptions to bans and defeated tax increases. Even in the best of times these attacks on the brick and mortar shops is appalling, but during a pandemic it’s just brutal. I hope more of the industry can step up to help in any way they can because it’s going to take all of us to fight for our industry,” said Johnson.
John Anderson, President of the PCA Board, expressed his gratitude for the support and all the effort Johnson puts in for the industry. “I have known Pete for a long time and this amazing donation is another example of Pete’s support for brick and mortar and just the type of guy Pete is. The PCA is incredibly appreciative of his generosity and support.”
