After several years of international expansion across Europe and Asia, Duran Cigars has officially returned to the United States. The relaunch marks a new chapter for the boutique cigar maker—anchored by its newly opened headquarters and distribution center in Miami’s Little Havana, and strengthened by the addition of Roberto Pelayo Duran Jr. to the family business.
Founded in 2013 by industry veteran Roberto Pelayo Duran, the brand debuted at the IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas with blends that married traditional Cuban influence with modern craftsmanship. After establishing early success in the U.S., Duran shifted his focus abroad, building a 100-hectare farm in Quevedo, Ecuador, and expanding production at the company’s factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. This strategic move allowed Duran Cigars to refine its vertically integrated operations and gain strong traction in international markets before re-entering the U.S.
“Concentrating on our farm and global markets allowed us to perfect our production and strengthen our foundation,” said Roberto Pelayo Duran, Founder and CEO. “Now, with my son joining the business, we have the right team and structure in place to reestablish our presence in the United States while continuing to grow internationally.”
The company’s U.S. comeback centers on a new headquarters and retail space at 3141 SW 8th Street in Little Havana, which serves as both a distribution hub and cigar lounge. The location connects the company’s global operations to the cultural heart of Miami—a fitting homecoming for a brand built on Cuban tradition and family heritage.
Leading the next phase of growth is Roberto Pelayo Duran Jr., who joins as Marketing and Sales Manager. A graduate of the University of British Columbia and University of Notre Dame, Duran Jr. brings a global business perspective and hands-on production experience from time spent working directly in Estelí and Quevedo.
“Working alongside my father has shown me how passion and precision come together to create something lasting,” said Duran Jr. “With our vertically integrated structure and our new Miami headquarters, we’re ready to share Duran Cigars with U.S. retailers and enthusiasts once again.”
With a renewed focus on the U.S. market, expanded infrastructure, and generational leadership in place, Duran Cigars enters its next era poised to grow both its domestic footprint and global reputation.
