What We're Smoking: Kristoff Nicaragua, Smoke on Main

Appearance & Aroma
Two ornate bands near the cap and foot of the cigar complement the beautiful brown wrapper. The light oil hue on the wrapper causes the bands to “pop.” This Nicaraguan cigar emits earthy, spicy, nutty and woody aromas prior to smoking.

Light-Up & Draw
A straight cut at the first cap line creates an easy draw and allows the cigar to light and toast effortlessly. The cigar gives off a beautiful, thick light gray smoke. The light oil on the wrapper complements the earthiness and spice.

Early Profile
Spice and cedar are noted in the early profile of the cigar, with pepper being most prevalent. Cedar and a light leather note come through on the retrohale, which are quite palatable. The strength is medium-full, as is the flavor.

Middle Profile & Burn
The middle brings with it a nutty and coffee profile, with the initial pepper and cedar notes lessened. The retrohale brings notes of spice (nutmeg & cinnamon). The construction of the cigar allows for a continued good draw and even burn. The strength remains medium-full as does the flavor.

Late Profile
The flavor of the cigar shifts to more earthy notes with some nuttiness in the final third. The retrohale brings the return of cedar, leather and a pepper accent. The cigar finishes with a medium-full strength and a medium flavor.

Overall Impression
I thoroughly enjoyed the cigar from start to finish and believe it would be a good starting point for those interested in the Kristoff products. Novice smokers would not be overwhelmed by this cigar, while the more experienced smoker would enjoy the nuances it contains. Cigar smoking is a wonderfully subjective endeavor. Get out there and experience it!
