Quality Importers Trading Company (QI) has acquired Stinky Cigar. The transaction closed on July 1, 2024. The Stinky Cigar ashtray was introduced in 2004 and has since become known for being a functional ashtray that has oval leaf-shaped shaped stirrups imprinted with the Stinky Cigar logo. Quality Importers has been the exclusive wholesale distributor for Stinky Cigar since January 2011 and has been involved in the brand’s growth and promotion for over 13 years.
Mike Giordano, CEO of Quality Importers, commented: “I started QI in 2000 with one model humidor which is still being sold today. Stinky started his company with one model ashtray, which is still sold today. The companies share a common history and mission of providing top-quality cigar accessories to the worldwide premium cigar trade at a reasonable price, so it was a natural evolution to go from exclusively distributing the Stinky Cigar® brand to owning it.”
Stinky added: “My wife and I have agreed to sell the Stinky Cigar brand to Quality Importers Trading Company for several reasons. Over the last 13 years, Quality Importers has grown the brand and distribution far beyond our expectations. I will continue to promote the brand and contribute to the engineering and design services to further position the Stinky Cigar portfolio for the future. We are sincerely grateful to the Quality Importers staff for their diligent efforts and commitment to producing Stinky Cigar branded products to the high standards it has become known for.”
Stinky Cigar offers a complete line of cigar accessories, including a tabletop and floor model, in various colors and sizes. There is also a cup holder model designed to fit most standard cup holders. Stinky Cigar’s HERF model has eight stirrups and a 2.5-gallon bowl. The latest design was introduced in 2023 and features a one-piece ashtray with a deep bowl and six stirrups, combining form and function.
With this acquisition, Quality Importers plans to continue to offer all of the current styles of Stinky Cigar ashtrays including the Original, Personal, Tall, Old World, Floor Standing, One Piece, and Herf models. Quality Importers has plans to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Stinky Cigar and its acquisition at next year’s Premium Cigar Association (PCA) trade show in New Orleans, Louisiana.
