It was a fast and furious legislative session in the Land of Enchantment. The New Mexico legislature, in its final minutes of deliberation, passed a comprehensive tax reform package. House Bill 6 includes a $0.50 cigar tax cap. If Governor Grisham signs H.B. 6, the effective date will be July 1st, 2019. This was a hard-fought provision that could not have been achieved without the commitment to engage from our New Mexico members.
