During the hearings on Monday and Tuesday, the Joint Committee on Tax Expenditures began to understand local retail tobacconists’ competitive disadvantage as compared to online sellers. The Committee amended House Bill 2270 to re-establish the cigar tax cap but, they increased the cap to $1.00 per cigar.
