What We’re Smoking: Drunk Chicken Mother Clucker

Cigar: Drunk Chicken Mother Clucker

  • Size: Robusto (Box Pressed)
  • Smoke time: 1 hour, 20 minutes

Appearance & Aroma
If the name of this cigar does not draw your attention, the gold foil trimmed band with the image of a two-faced sassy chicken will. The Mother Clucker is a very well-constructed box-pressed cigar with minimal veins. The edges of the tobacco leaf are barely visible giving the appearance of a smooth candy bar. It is a little splotchy in color around the foot of the cigar but otherwise a beautiful, consistent Colorado shade throughout the rest of the stick with a subtle shine to the wrapper. The placement of the cap was very even, allowing for a perfect double-V cut without unraveling or having the cap come off. The initial smell before lighting gave the aroma of cocoa, chocolate, coffee, and wood.

Light Up & Draw
I used a single-flame torch to avoid over-scorching the foot. The cigar lit rather quickly with little effort. The draw was very smooth and easy, a little airy. The Mother Clucker produces a very nice amount of smoke, again, with little effort.

Early Profile
Immediate notes of wood upon lighting up with pepper on the retrohale, and subtle hints of cocoa and a surprisingly faint taste of black licorice. All the flavors blended quite nicely without any of them taking center stage to overshadow the others.

Middle Profile & Burn
Very even burn. Consistent flavor profile throughout. The pepper that was experienced during the initial retrohale, however, subsided, giving way to more woodsy notes.

Late Profile
The Mother Clucker ended for me just as it started, with notes of wood, pepper, cocoa, and licorice, and tons of smoke. It is a true medium cigar, in both strength and flavor.

Overall Impression
The Mother Clucker is not a very complex cigar. It is consistent in its flavor notes from start to finish. Overall, this cigar is a very easygoing stick that does not require a lot of work on the light, draw or the enjoyment. No relights were necessary. I would recommend this cigar for a novice smoker who is looking to transition to the next level, or a more seasoned smoker who looks for continuity. This cigar pairs quite nicely with red wine or coffee. Definitely nub worthy!
